Curriculum

kids learning
Theme Based:
Children from birth through 30 months have lesson plans based on themes with the Comprehensive Curriculum as a resource guide.  This allows us to introduce broad concepts to the children who are newly exploring their environment around them.

Literature Based:
Children from 30 months through pre-kindergarten have lesson plans based on different story books with the SPARK curriculum as a resource guide. This allows for a child-centered curriculum in which children learn through hands-on, open-ended activities. Children 30 months through four years old are also exposed to a different letter each week as well as numbers. Our Pre-K children have a word of the week that relates to their everyday experiences or to their world around them.

Each child is assigned a school portfolio that is updated daily and is kept on-site throughout his/her stay with us. The portfolio includes the Portage Guide for Assessment  as well as sample artwork, running records, anecdotal notes, dictation, and photographs.

Zoophonics:

Beginning at the age of two, we begin to introduce the children  to the Zoophonics program.  This animal based phonics program allows the children to explore the alphabet and the sounds the letters make  the way children learn best,  through motions and songs.  As the children grow, the program becomes more extensive to reflect their knowledge and ability to learn in greater detail.
